Alfredo Novoa Graduate Student, UCLA

Alfredo Novoa is a doctoral student in the Human Development and Psychology program at UCLA’s Graduate School of Education & Information Studies. His mother immigrated on her own from Mexico and his father from El Salvador with his family. Alfredo’s broad interests focus on understanding ecological factors that shape the sociocultural experiences and academic development of immigrant-origin youth, and how information and research are disseminated and accessed in different communities. His current interests involve examining the transition to college, as well as young people’s experiences with mentoring and building community assets. Alfredo received his Bachelors of Science in Applied Psychology from New York University.
