Mike Hoa Nguyen Graduate Student, UCLA

Mike Hoa Nguyen is a doctoral student in the Division of Higher Education and Organizational Change at UCLA’s School of Education and Information Studies. His research interests include Minority Serving Institutions, campus diversity initiatives, federal/state policy, as well as AAPI foodways. He also serves as a Research Associate at the National Commission on Asian American and Pacific Islander Research in Education (CARE), which is apart of UCLA’s Institute for Immigration, Globalization, and Education. Prior to UCLA, Mike served as the Deputy District Director to U.S. Congressman Mike Honda (CA-17), where he worked on a number of policy issues, including postsecondary education. Before federal service, Mike served as a Program Associate at De Anza College’s Asian American Studies Department, where he mentored students, developed new curriculum, and taught. He received his B.A. from UC Berkeley and his M.A. from UCLA.
